Questions Parents May Have About LOGOS

My child has too much homework. How can LOGOS fit into his or her schedule?

Some study time is an available option during the recreational time

Can't we do away with dinner and save time, trouble and money?

To eliminate any part of the program diminishes its importance and success by over half.  We know that there is something almost sacramental about eating together.

Can't this be done on a Sunday?

There is real value in a midweek education.  It teaches that religion is not separate from daily activities.  It is relevant to children and youth, since many if their activities take place on weekdays during the school year.  A Wednesday program offers more time for fun and fellowship.

Doesn't this compete with Sunday Church School?

No.  In churches where the LOGOS program is used, the Sunday Church School has usually been strengthened.  The young people come to Church School as better friends and with better background to add to class discussion.

My son or daughter is involved in after school activities.  Can he or she come to only part of the program?

Since most school activity programs do not run the whole year, it is suggested that the LOGOS participant come to the program as soon as possible after the activity, and resume full participation after the "session: ends.  For special situations, please talk to the program director.

What is expected of parents in the LOGOS Program?

Parents will be asked to help one Wednesday per month per child and to attend the required parents' meeting in September.  Jobs and time involved vary.  Parents should provide encouragement and support for the child's weekly attendance.

I work (or have younger children at home).   What shall I do?

See if you can make substitute arrangements with a friend or older person in church.  Child care for parents helping that evening will be provided.

I don't have transportation

We will do everything we can to assist in developing car pools.   Middle school students can take the school bus to Sutherland and walk from there.

How much will this cost?  Is financial aid available?
