Music Program
|
The Music Ministry of the
First Presbyterian Church of Pittsford seeks to
enhance the corporate service of worship, provide fellowship and
learning opportunities for those involved in the program, and to represent the
church to
the local community. Our aim is to prepare ourselves and
to provide leadership for our congregation's musical worship of God, to nourish the tradition of great
congregational singing, and to deepen the connection between what we sing and who we are
.
The
Music Ministry continually seeks to utilize the musical talent in
our congregation in a number of ways.
If you play an instrument, sing, or have a special talent that you would like to share with the church, please
email the Director of Music,
Dr. James Douthit. |

WELCOME EUNYOUNG KIM
It is with great pleasure
that we welcome Eunyoung Kim to our piano bench (and soon to the new organ
bench). After a summer of interviews and searching, the Search Committee
selected Eunyoung as our organist. Currently a student at the Eastman
School of Music, she has completed the coursework toward the Doctor of
Musical Arts in Organ Performance and Literature and holds a Masters and
Bachelors Degree from Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea.
Additionally, Eunyoung has student church music in Regensburg, Germany at
the Hochshule fur Katholische Kirchenmusik and holds a
Master Class Diploma from the Hochshule fur Music in Munich. She has been
awarded graduate assistantships at the Eastman School of
Music and Yonsei University. She has been a semifinalist in organ
competitions held in both Munich and Tokyo. Eunyoung was formerly the
organist at Our Lady of Lourdes in Brighton and has served as the Assistant
Organist at St. Paul’s Church in Englewood, New Jersey, and at the
Feldkirchen in Munich, Germany. |

OUR NEW ORGAN

TAYLOR AND BOODY Opus 57
After intense study and consideration, the
church has decided to commission a new organ to be built by
Taylor and Boody of Staunton, Virginia. The organ will be
built in the style of David Tannenberg. (For
information, see
www.davidtannenberg.com.)
The construction can be followed on the Taylor and Boody website
at
www.taylorandboody.com and photos of
the organ under construction are available by clicking here:
Pittsford Organ Photos. We look forward to the
completion of the instrument that will enhance our congregation
singing and all of our music offerings in the service of
workshop. For information on contributing funds to the
building of the instrument, please contact the Director of
Music,
Dr. James
Douthit. |
